What it involves

Customs is where it is decided whether a shipment arrives on time or sits for weeks accruing storage. Most delays do not come from an inspection: they come from a misassigned tariff code, a prior permit nobody filed, or an invoice that does not match the packing list.

We have presence at customs offices across the country, which means someone from PRIME is handling your declaration where your cargo lands, not managing it by phone from another city.

We review documentation before the goods ship. If something is going to hold up clearance, we would rather fix it at origin — while it is still cheap — than discover it with the container already on the yard.

Frequently asked questions

About this service

All questions

What documents do I need to clear an import?

At minimum: commercial invoice, packing list, transport document (B/L, air waybill or road consignment note) and certificate of origin where a tariff preference applies. Depending on the product, health, phytosanitary or registration permits may also be required.

How long does customs clearance take?

With complete documents and a green channel, the same day or the day after arrival. A red channel with physical inspection usually adds one to three days. Timelines stretch when a prior permit is missing, which is the most common cause of delay.

Can you tell me the duties before I buy?

Yes, and it is worth asking. With the technical description, value and origin of the product we classify the heading and calculate the landed cost. That is the number that decides whether a purchase makes sense.
